Someone on my other flist recently posted something about how fanfic is the butt of jokes and is not taken seriously as writing, even if things that are within the venn diagram of transformative works are--the spectrum from Wide Sargasso Sea to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to With Eight You Get Eggroll.

It's frustrating that I feel (I choose) I need to have this journal, which is really just this side of fake, so that I can join communities where I'm interested in the writing and the art without being connected to them in real life by the people who know my other journal.  No one I know in person knows my twitter account, because I don't want them to know who I follow.  I'm not sneaky or energetic enough for a double life!  I barely maintain the one I have!

Anyway, just wanted to get that out as a rant, and for OBVIOUS reasons couldn't do it in my other journal.

I started this journal so I could go play in fandom with my real life family and coworkers, who are aware of and check out my other LJ, none the wiser.  I'm definitely of age, any mods who happen to be checking this--born in 1980, recently received an advanced degree and moved home with my family.  AWESOME.  Currently looking for a job and wishing I had more actual skills and maybe a teensy bit less knowledge.  But, hope springs eternal.  I am hopefully going to go gad about looking for communities to join soon, which will give me something fun and relaxing to do between job applications.
